Beach BBQ [Open]

Levi's idea for a beach party had been a good one. After the past few weeks they both needed to blow off a little steam and Lara had taken to the idea like the proverbial siren to water, inviting all her employees and friends. Levi had put the word out at the police station and among his closer friends so between them a decent crowd was forming.
The tables lining the beach were piled high with food and drink, a DJ was already in full swing and people were drifting over to the large bonfire for warmth as the chill started to cut through the summer evening. A few of the Heart of Gold employees had brought their kids along for the festivities and a friend of Lara's was performing little glamours and tricks to keep them entertained. Large clusters of huge pillows were dotted about the beach just a little way from Levi's house and lanterns and firelight bathed the whole area in a warm glow.
Maybe Lara had taken it a little far but she liked to treat her friends and everyone could use a little R&R.
OOC: Levi and Lara's friends have been officially invited, but everyone else feel free to wander in at your leisure~.

As it was, he’d decided to kick off his shoes and stand with his feet in the sea. It had been so long and the salty water lapping at his toes felt as comforting as a full body hug. Ben’s son Lewis, a small for his age 5 year old, had spent the last 10 minutes talking about the fish that he’s seen when he went swimming with his Dad. Hand clutching onto the leg of Owen’s shorts so the waves didn’t knock him over. It was nice, but at the same time all Owen could think about was how this should be different. He should have been here with Abi, thinking about the things he could do with his own kids. Lewis yawned loudly next to him and that was the moment Ben swooped in, patting Owen on the shoulder with an awkward smile and heading back to his wife.
Letting out a sigh, he stared out at where the moon was shining out on the sea. Wondering why it was that’d actually come out tonight.

Levi made sure to make the rounds and chat up everyone he could. He was slightly more out of it than normal due to pain killers and booze to dull his headaches, but he didn't care. It was a party and people were having fun. People he cared about were having fun.
Smiling and incredibly pleased with how things were going, Levi hoped everyone else was having an equally good time.

The beach isn't so bad, he decides as he smiles at some of the familiar faces he sees in the growing crowd of partygoers. Lara had spared no expense, it seems, with the DJ and bonfire and generous offering of things to eat and drink. He wanders over to the beverage selection and is pleased to see a variety of whiskeys to choose from, opting for the Johnnie Walker--fond memories, after all--and pouring a little more than is probably appropriate into a plastic cup.
He feels someone come up behind him and glances up as he takes a sip of his drink, relishing in the way it warms his throat and belly as he swallows it down, and offering a kind smile in the face of his contentment. "Quite a nice gathering, wouldn't you say?"

And they absolutely hadn't, so she scored some free imported beer and later she'd partake of something a little harder but for now she was taking it easy. She'd lucked it and had been wearing some cute cut off shorts that showed off her legs and ass really well, along with her bikini top that showed off most of everything else.
Everyone was having such a good time she figured this was a fantastic way to make new friends. It wasn't a Mardi Gras party or anything but it would do to help meet some more people.

She lays the gifts by Lara's things at one of the tables with a little thank you note, then steps out onto the sand, dressed in what she hopes isn't too casual of an outfit. Beach parties are typically casual, right? Riley grabs a bottle of beer and takes a seat on the sand as close to the water as she'll get, just close enough that the soft waves come up to tickle her feet (any closer and she'll start to feel nervous and demand a life-vest). She takes a swig of her beer, relaxing in the comfortable environment. Parties aren't her strong suit, but Lara's parties usually keep Riley at ease, especially since she knows most of the attendees from Watersong.

So instead he hovers at the edges of the party, pacing back and forth now and then, sometimes even smiling at the people he recognizes. He's not dressed for a beach party, really, he's just dressed in his regular clothes, jeans and a cardigan, and he wonders if he should have tried to find something different. He doesn't really have anything, though, so he just shoves his hands into his pockets and turns abruptly toward the water, nearly walking straight into someone heading in the other direction.
"Sorry," he says, his eyes widening in surprised. "I'm sorry."

Nervously, she clutches at the beach tote she'd packed her contributions to the food into, peering around for one of them, or Lara, planning on clinging to them for the night.

She didn't bother with a shirt right now - her Wonder Woman hoodie from Spencer was stuffed in her bag, and the bruising had almost entirely faded from her face and ribs - the only marker of any real injury was the somewhat alarming (if old) scar that wrapped around the bottom half of her right leg, and that she walked with an uneven gait. Raleigh goes to put down the cookies and wine, but there's not quite enough room on the table. "'Scuse me," she says as she balances it all, "Could you move that cup?"

The thing is, she doesn't even particularly care for barbecues. She's here to lounge around looking fab, and to have a little talk with Lara. Levi had let it slip that something was going on there, and, as the self-styled queen bee of the police department, she's going to make sure her boys are happy and taken care of, even if it means challenging her matriarch.
"Lara, darling!" she coos, swooping over to the woman as soon as she sees her and linking arms with her. "I heard you're together with one of my boys now, yeah? You do know that if you break his heart, I'm morally obligated to make your life a living hell in any way possible, right? Like, let loose the hounds of hell kind of torment. Just so we have that cleared up."

The bruises and gashes have faded to shadows. Her wrist still jabs in the wrong position, but the physical remnants of that day scarcely grace her now. And the twinkle in her eye has come back. With the hope and determination to get past this, to be whole again. She put on a delicate sundress, pink with white lace, over her bathingsuit. And only a hint of make up. She doesn't need to hide anymore.
Les keeps her laughing on the way over. It does wonders, Leslie by her side - but it always does. The pillows along the beach are a welcome sight. A place to escape to if she needs to breathe. Toes in sand and mind on the waves. But Corrine Flynn is reclaiming her life. And this is as good a time to say hello to the world again as ever.

As he approaches the food table, meaning to grab a plate of food for Corry and obviously himself, he is just glad Corry decided to come with him. Not only was he happy to see her still willing to brave the outside world, but he just liked having her around. They were fairing much better as of late, after their talk on the beach. He starts grabbing things from the table, filling his plate quickly with everything that looks good, namely a pile of sliced pickles that he guesses is probably meant for the hamburgers...
Once he has food, he looks around trying to spot where Corry scurried off too.

Because of that little episode, Eli had been late getting home to shower. It was a good thing he had found a decent pair of swim trunks the other night when Iris had invited him. So he doesn't have any reason to scout out his closet--which normally would take him forever. He liked to dress up under normal circumstances, but for a party thrown by Lara Quinn, he had every reason to look the part.
Luckily, his loft is already downtown so the trek over to the docks and then down to the spot on the beach only takes him about fifteen minutes. It's hard to miss all the excitement. There was a big bonfire already roaring, filling the sky with orange sparks. Loud music and happy people. Eli found himself smiling, ready to have a good time with his friends. As he gets closer, he pulls out his cellphone texting Iris and Jason to see if he could find them.

And then there was the other thing. Magic was thick here. She could almost feel it in the roots of her hair and the beds of her fingernails. She could learn here, explore the odd turn her gifts had take the last couple of years. Hell, she was sitting on a freaking beach, wasn't she? All the water she could want.
Sitting on a towel off to the side of the revelers, she twitched her fingers out to the waves, keeping her arm down low so people wouldn't notice. She began to whisper in Chinese, little things, asking, cajoling until she managed to make one of the incoming waves change direction, crashing into the one behind it with a crash that sent spray up several feet in the air. Three years ago, she never would have been able to do that. Three years ago, she wouldn't have even thought to try. It had been a long strange road to bring her to Siren Cove.
So yeah, she totally wasn't going to stay here. Looking over her shoulder, she was surprised to see someone walking by. "Nice night?"

"Hey, thanks for having us," she says, tugging Fabrice along behind her. She has been checking in on her cousin every day since last week, when his memories returned to him in full. He's still staying with his mother, and has yet to return to work, so Moira insisted on helping ease him back into the socializing ways of Siren Cove. "Something smells great!"

He dresses in as nice an outfit as he can manage, making sure to put some effort in at his cousin's assistance. Though subdued, he makes an effort in appearing pleasant enough.
