Beach BBQ [Open]

Levi's idea for a beach party had been a good one. After the past few weeks they both needed to blow off a little steam and Lara had taken to the idea like the proverbial siren to water, inviting all her employees and friends. Levi had put the word out at the police station and among his closer friends so between them a decent crowd was forming.
The tables lining the beach were piled high with food and drink, a DJ was already in full swing and people were drifting over to the large bonfire for warmth as the chill started to cut through the summer evening. A few of the Heart of Gold employees had brought their kids along for the festivities and a friend of Lara's was performing little glamours and tricks to keep them entertained. Large clusters of huge pillows were dotted about the beach just a little way from Levi's house and lanterns and firelight bathed the whole area in a warm glow.
Maybe Lara had taken it a little far but she liked to treat her friends and everyone could use a little R&R.
OOC: Levi and Lara's friends have been officially invited, but everyone else feel free to wander in at your leisure~.

"Being a witch will probably help. It took me a long, long time to learn much about them," he admitted. Of course, that was probably due to the fact that he was a cop from a family of witch haters as much as anything else. Now, of course, he had just about all the siren info he could want. Funny how that worked out.
"I think your lack of Siren Cove baggage and reputation will help you out. At least so long as you haven't name dropped me and eliminated any good will you might have had."

"And are you kidding? I drop your name everywhere. I've got a cousin in the PD, that's useful info for people to know. Means I don't get ripped off."

Levi wasn't so sure that dropping his name would really help her out at all but he supposed it was worth a try. Assuming that she really was name dropping him. Before too long she'd probably have a bit of her own reputation. The town was small enough that new people of interest always made news fast.
"Well, maybe don't do that when you order your food, just to be safe."

"Sometimes the long arm of the law reaches into the food industry," he said. Smiling as he punched her arm back, he was grateful for the playful banter and teasing between them. It made him wonder if this was what normal familial interactions were like.
"But I'm glad you're thinking of staying, it's been nice having you here."

"Yeah, well, it's been kinda nice being here. I'm calling the lawyers in the next few days to figure out what I need to do to if I do go ahead. Still can't quite believe I'm even considering it. My lawyer's gonna think I hit my head or something." Essie Wakewood putting down roots was probably something he'd mark on a map and write in his... whatever lawyers had for diaries. He'd also draw up about a million papers to make sure any houses or cars she bought would be lost in some crazy account-fu so they wouldn't be affected by any of the lawsuits her family liked to file.

"I'm glad you hear you're going to stay for a while," he said. Levi had worried that if Essie didn't stay that she would disappear out of his life and he'd likely never see her again. They hadn't become super close or anything but Levi felt like they could be family for each other, the kind of family that was good.
"Even if your lawyer might require you to go through a medical exam just to make sure you're acting of your own will and are of sound mind."

"Eh, I'm sure he'll make it as painless as possible. God knows I pay him enough to make things easy for me." And safe, she couldn't forget safe. What would he say when she told him she was staying put. And in a town that's pretty open about magic? And open about being anti-magic? She hadn't been fool enough to miss those signs, especially with what she knew about Levi's father.
"So, on the hypothetical chance that I am looking to buy a place, where should I be looking?"
