Beach BBQ [Open]

Levi's idea for a beach party had been a good one. After the past few weeks they both needed to blow off a little steam and Lara had taken to the idea like the proverbial siren to water, inviting all her employees and friends. Levi had put the word out at the police station and among his closer friends so between them a decent crowd was forming.

The tables lining the beach were piled high with food and drink, a DJ was already in full swing and people were drifting over to the large bonfire for warmth as the chill started to cut through the summer evening. A few of the Heart of Gold employees had brought their kids along for the festivities and a friend of Lara's was performing little glamours and tricks to keep them entertained. Large clusters of huge pillows were dotted about the beach just a little way from Levi's house and lanterns and firelight bathed the whole area in a warm glow.

Maybe Lara had taken it a little far but she liked to treat her friends and everyone could use a little R&R.

OOC: Levi and Lara's friends have been officially invited, but everyone else feel free to wander in at your leisure~.

"But I like your cupcakes too."

She lets out a clearly over the top gasp. "You do? Well... I guess that has to be the highlight of my day too," she teases.

"You're terrible and I'm leaving," he says with the worst serious face ever as he gets up from the bench.

Iris laughs, grabbing his hand and tugging on it. "Sit down, you big baby. You know what the best part of my day is, and if you don't, you're even denser than I am."

Iris tugging on Jason is like a kitten tugging on a bear, but he follows her instructions and sits back down beside her, his hand still in hers. "Maybe we're not sense, but you're just shy and I have a complex."

The fact that he's holding her hand right now is killing her, and she is dancing inside with the need to text Kennedy.

"We need to get rid of that complex then, because one of us should be sensible, and I'm clearly not going to stop being shy anytime soon."

"Well if you insist. I'll become the most egotistical guy you've ever met," he says with a grin, noticing how she looks like she's going to explode, she's wiggling so much.

She laughs, looking up at him. "Somehow, I don't think you can do that..."

[jasonwright]

"I could pretend, and then apologize a lot after everything I say," he grins.

[littleredsiren]

"Do it," she grins, curious to see how well he could pull it off. "I played vain for you that one time, so you can play conceited for me."

[jasonwright]

"Ughhh," he groans. Jason tries to think back on the most conceited people he's ever met and perks up when he thinks of one. He immediately sits up straighter, scooting a more acceptable distance from her on the bench. "Play conceited? I don't have to play, honey. I have every right to be conceited. Look at me."

His face is stern for about five seconds before he wrinkles his nose. "Sorry, that was bad."

Iris stares for a good minute before bursting into giggles. "That was painful..."

"I think it was more painful for me, to be honest," he says, scratching his head. "I made my chest hurt."

She gives his hand a tiny squeeze. "I won't make you do it ever again then, I promise."

[jasonwright]

"That sounds good. I won't make you do that again either."

[littleredsiren]

"Good because being vain is really uncomfortable," she laughs.

[jasonwright]

"God it is." He shakes his head. "I don't know how people do it regularly."

[littleredsiren]

"Maybe that's why they always act like they had a really hard day when they did nothing all day?" she suggests.

[jasonwright]

He thinks for a moment. "You know, that makes sense. I can see why they're so exhausted now."
