Beach BBQ [Open]

Levi's idea for a beach party had been a good one. After the past few weeks they both needed to blow off a little steam and Lara had taken to the idea like the proverbial siren to water, inviting all her employees and friends. Levi had put the word out at the police station and among his closer friends so between them a decent crowd was forming.
The tables lining the beach were piled high with food and drink, a DJ was already in full swing and people were drifting over to the large bonfire for warmth as the chill started to cut through the summer evening. A few of the Heart of Gold employees had brought their kids along for the festivities and a friend of Lara's was performing little glamours and tricks to keep them entertained. Large clusters of huge pillows were dotted about the beach just a little way from Levi's house and lanterns and firelight bathed the whole area in a warm glow.
Maybe Lara had taken it a little far but she liked to treat her friends and everyone could use a little R&R.
OOC: Levi and Lara's friends have been officially invited, but everyone else feel free to wander in at your leisure~.

Levi flashed a smile at her, glad to see her here. Proud to see her here, although he wouldn't say that. She had been kept longer than anyone but Wulfric but Wulfric had seen some hard times and scary things before the kidnapping. Corry... she'd gone through some trauma before but not like what she had. But she were here and making an effort.
"I did get your gift, thank you," he said. It had been very generous and he'd kept everything except the gift card, which he'd used to purchase some meals for the homeless. It had seemed fitting. "And you're welcome. You're... you probably don't want to talk about it, I don't either. I just want to say it's good to see and I'm glad you're here."

"Me too." And the two words mean a thousand. Glad she's alive. Glad she escaped and survived. Glad finally made it out into the world again. Glad she climbed up from rock bottom. Glad to be living again.
Corry takes a step forward, starts to shift her arms out for a hug, but shrugs back. She does a dance like this for a moment, back and forth then finally finds her nerve, lunging into a quick hug before pulling away. She owes this man her life, and she of the golden tongue, the former-adoration of the world, cannot figure out how to face him.

Levi could see and sense the hesitation in Corry but he just let her decide what it was she wanted to do, which eventually seemed to be a quick hug, which he returned the best that he could considering how quick it was. He really was glad to see her though, both because it meant she was getting out but also because from the little he knew of her as a person, she was good company.
"If you're hungry we've got just about every kind of meat or fruit or vegetable you wand and for drinks there's Kool-Aid to... I have no idea what expensive stuff Lara brought. She apparently does things on a slightly bigger scale than I'm used to."

"Lara and I would love to come to dinner sometime because we're fantastic dinner guests and you seem like you'd be pretty decent at it too," he said, hoping that she didn't feel obligated to do anything.

"I'll - I'll set something up." She half looks at him, half at the ground, hugging her arms, mustering up another smile. "You can bring the Kool-Aid."
no subject
"I will absolutely bring the Kool-Aid," Levi said, grinning. It might be childish to actually show up with some but he was going to do exactly that. Because Kool-Aid was delicious no matter what age you were despite the cultish connotations that it might have been cursed with.
"So I have a question. When they make the inevitable movie about this whole situation... who do you want to play you in it? Do actors and actresses play that game? Who would star in the move about my life?"
He wasn't sure if the question was in bad taste or not but his nature defense mechanism was to joke about something and it was what he usually fell back on.

She offers a genuine smile. Small, laced with reticence, but genuine nonetheless. "Actresses are far to egotistical to think of someone else playing us. But if I had to choose, is want someone brand new and unknown. Launch the talent of some young girl and give her the same dream I had." Corry smiles a little brighter. "Of course, our movie would be praised and revered."

"Well, no one could ever truly capture what it's like to be you. Personally I want to be played by Ryan Gosling," Levi admitted. He idly wondered how wrong a movie about the event would get it all. Would he and Corry or he and Emily be love interests? Wulfric would probably not be portrayed accurately at all. As for the killers... they didn't bear thinking about.
"And they'd add in a story arc where the FBI would offer me a position with them."
