Beach BBQ [Open]

Levi's idea for a beach party had been a good one. After the past few weeks they both needed to blow off a little steam and Lara had taken to the idea like the proverbial siren to water, inviting all her employees and friends. Levi had put the word out at the police station and among his closer friends so between them a decent crowd was forming.

The tables lining the beach were piled high with food and drink, a DJ was already in full swing and people were drifting over to the large bonfire for warmth as the chill started to cut through the summer evening. A few of the Heart of Gold employees had brought their kids along for the festivities and a friend of Lara's was performing little glamours and tricks to keep them entertained. Large clusters of huge pillows were dotted about the beach just a little way from Levi's house and lanterns and firelight bathed the whole area in a warm glow.

Maybe Lara had taken it a little far but she liked to treat her friends and everyone could use a little R&R.

OOC: Levi and Lara's friends have been officially invited, but everyone else feel free to wander in at your leisure~.

"Alright. Rest up and drink plenty of coffee, okay?" He glances over at Lara before turning back to Iris. "Sorry you freaked out and all."

She stretches, her stomach jumping with happiness that she tries to keep from showing. "It's okay. Sorry I'm so dense," she replies, giving him a wry smile.

"I'm apparently equally dense if it takes Lara Quinn stepping in," he laughs.

"Lara is a saint, even if I'm pretty sure she's going to end up killing me one of these days," she grins, looking over at him bashfully.

"Nah, she loves you too much. She'll never push you into something you couldn't handle," he smiles. "You just needed a nudge."

[littleredsiren]

"That was a heck of a nudge," she laughs. "I'll have to make her cupcakes to thank her though, I suppose."

[jasonwright]

"I'm sure she'll love them." He's not sure exactly what he's supposed to do or what she's comfortable with so he leans over and kisses her cheek again, pulling back with a smile.

Iris knows she's smiling like a dork right now, but she can't help it. A blush creeping over her cheeks, she steels herself before leaning over and kissing his cheek in return, returning to her spot with a barely contained giggle.

"Glad you came to the party now?"

"I am. I mean, the food already had me, but this was a nice bonus. Are you?"

"Yeah, yeah I think I am," she grins before her tone turns teasing. "I really enjoyed the swimming. And hanging out with Eli, of course."

He raises his eyebrows. "Is that all you enjoyed?"

[littleredsiren]

"Mmmm... I think so, yup!"

[jasonwright]

"Wow. Getting over her nerves makes you mean."

[littleredsiren]

Iris laughs, leaning over and kissing his cheek again, slightly less red this time. "Okay, I guess finding out you like me too was pretty nice."

"But obviously low on the list, right?" Still, he smiles when she kisses his cheek again.

"Somewhere around finding out Levi liked my cupcakes, I think," she teases.

"But I like your cupcakes too."

[littleredsiren]

She lets out a clearly over the top gasp. "You do? Well... I guess that has to be the highlight of my day too," she teases.

"You're terrible and I'm leaving," he says with the worst serious face ever as he gets up from the bench.

[littleredsiren]

Iris laughs, grabbing his hand and tugging on it. "Sit down, you big baby. You know what the best part of my day is, and if you don't, you're even denser than I am."

Iris tugging on Jason is like a kitten tugging on a bear, but he follows her instructions and sits back down beside her, his hand still in hers. "Maybe we're not sense, but you're just shy and I have a complex."

The fact that he's holding her hand right now is killing her, and she is dancing inside with the need to text Kennedy.

"We need to get rid of that complex then, because one of us should be sensible, and I'm clearly not going to stop being shy anytime soon."

"Well if you insist. I'll become the most egotistical guy you've ever met," he says with a grin, noticing how she looks like she's going to explode, she's wiggling so much.

She laughs, looking up at him. "Somehow, I don't think you can do that..."

[jasonwright]

"I could pretend, and then apologize a lot after everything I say," he grins.
