Night Swimming (Open)

It's been a trying day...week...month, if she's honest. The situation with Bach and the missing elders was getting on her last nerve.

She needed a swim.

Pulling her phone from her bag, she sent a text to a few of the more senior members of the siren community:

Night swimming tonight from sundown on the wrecking beach. All welcome. Food and drink provided. Please spread the word.

That should do it.

She send another note to her contacts at the police station so the unaware human element would be steered away. The wards would be up around the beach, discouraging vanilla humans from coming down there but it didn't hurt to have insurance in these matters.

Hopefully the sirens would come, maybe some of the witches. It would be nice to sprawl on the rocks for a few hours with friends.

"Yes, but .." She tried to focus on the screen. "I don't even know what I'm looking for. Do I want a servant? A masseuse? Do they offer massages? Or someone to watch movies with? Make me breakfast? Do I want an incredibly handsome man or someone not that impressive?"

Lara shrugged. "All the sirens will fit most of that criteria." She flicked through a few pages. "Jacob is your age. He's smart with a wicked sense of humour. Loves cooking so he'd gladly make you a meal. He's also the best I have at knowing what a companion really wants. He'd be a good choice because, if you want him to, he'll make all the decisions and leave you happy afterwards."

"That's just silly .." She read his profile. "Maybe I want someone younger to act out my cougar-feelings. And I thought you said sirens couldn't read minds. And I don't know if my mother won't notice someone-not-her cooking on our grounds."

Lara shrugged. "We can't read minds. But we have a sense of what makes someone happy. What makes them tick. " She grins. "It's why we get paid the big bucks." Lara looked over the list. "What about Adam then? He's slightly younger. And he has a great apartment. Huge movie collection."

"I'm not going to go to a stranger's home, that's how court cases start!"

She scrolled back to Jacob. "If Adam is younger and has a huge movie collection, he probably has a huge sense of self-importance-through-movie-knowledge as well. I like Kaiju for dinner, not French dramas."

Laughing Lara shook her head. "He's the biggest sci-fi geek I've ever met. Maybe I should have mentioned that before."

"Six years younger though.. is that not like dog years? Will I have to put him to bed at ten?"
She licked her lips. "Can't I invite both?"

Grinning broadly, Lara nodded. "Adventurous. I like it. And so will they so yes, you definitely can."

"Lara, you're horrible. You have to contain me, not stimulate me. I can't even rem- it's been way too long since the last time I entertained male company. By myself. At night. Baby steps, not giant ones."

[asharpertongue]

"No one said you had to entertain them...that's their job." Lara wiggled her eyebrows cheekily. "And there's no better way to get back into something than to throw yourself into it head first."

"Yes but ..and I don't know if I can take it if they decide to entertain each other. And I'm going to - I can't splurge on something like this, I have to buy groceries for the rest of the month." She scratched her ear.
"You're acting like there was a time when I was pulling all-nighters. Okay, there was a time, but that's almost twenty years ago."

Lara looked at her and raised an eyebrow. "You're not paying. It's a gift."

Lou snorted so loud that she sprayed snot. "Oh my gosh, sorry! No, Lara, no. Don't you dare. This sounds like a pity fu- this is starting to get embarrassing. Pity fuck. I'm not a John. Joan. How do you call a female John?

If you want to make it a gift, give me an insane discount. Assuming that I'm taking your offer, of course."

"My companions don't have Johns. They have clients. And you're looking at this all wrong. I'm suggesting a no-strings, no-obligation evening with a couple of fun men who, as sirens, will actually get something out of your company as well as providing a service." She grins cheekily. "You've gone and assumed there's going to be sex. But okay - if you want to do it that way. A ninety percent discount."

"Am I wrong in that assumption? Isn't that like ..why people come find your service? How many percent of your clients doesn't want sex?"

[asharpertongue]

"You'd be surprised. Some people really do just want company. There's an older man...a client for many many years...all he requests is someone that listens and can cook. And he tells them stories for an evening while they make him a meal and eat it with them." Lara spread her hands. "It's not always about sex, you see?"

"That has to be a really old man." She whistled. "Tonight is a bit last minute. Maybe I'll take you up on your offer another time."

[asharpertongue]

"Not really. He's just seen a lot." She smiled. "No obligation. Just let me know."

"Ha!" She gave her a shove. "I knew I could get you off my back."

Lara narrows her eyes and kicks some water up Lou's thighs. "You were interested! Don't pretend you weren't."

"I don't need a man! I need a life!"

"Well this would help with that!"

[louise_abasi]

She cackled with false outrage. "I need help with that?"

"You're digging a hole, gorgeous. Now I want 9% discount."

Lara snorted a laugh. "You drive a hard bargain."

"Anything to give me the idea that I'm not someone's client", she winked.
